Abigail Olson studied at Duluth's Great Lakes Academy of Fine Art, and is a member artist at Studio Pintura.
Students will be instructed in the basics of figure drawing, starting from the block-in stage all the way to finishing touches. Working entirely from the figure model, students will employ traditional methods to capture the proportion and features of the human figure. Beginners will be able to work from the ground up while intermediate to advanced students can further exercise their observation skills and technique. Focus will be on balancing tonal and linear elements to create a pleasing final image. Students will produce a total of two finished drawings.

Students will be instructed in the basics of figure drawing, starting from the block-in stage all the way to finishing touches. We will be working on paper at 11 x 14 inches; go to "Learn More" for materials list.

Learn to sculpt a life-size portrait bust from a model in oil-based clay with instructor Armando Gutiérrez G. The class will emphasize anatomy and proportion, as well as creating a life-like piece with character.
Armando will lead students in creating a silicone and plaster mold of the student's existing sculpture. The class will take place over two weekends:

Spend 10 weeks creating one or more clay figure studies from a live model in a supportive environment. We suggest that new sculptors take either Figure Sculpture or the Plaster Cast Sculpture Study class first.

Learn about the process of slip casting for ceramics, and create a simple slip-cast mold. No previous experience necessary!

Learn hand-building techniques and create some original work for Studio Pintura's Fall Raku Firing event. No previous experience necessary!

Deep-dive into observation, measurements, and sculpture skills by copying an existing Plaster Sculpture in earth or plasticene clay.
